I am Cecilia Stamp and I live and work in Glasgow, UK, where I was brought up. The inspiration for my jewellery comes from the man-made: a fascination with Modernist architecture, packaging and vintage electronics. I translate this source material into simplified, abstract forms in a muted colour palette.

I have always been drawn to this aesthetic in terms of jewellery, which is traditionally considered feminine and decadent. I enjoy stripping back these perceptions to create irreverent pieces. For example, pieces to represent things that are considered non-precious or mundane – such as carbonated drinks packaging and food tins. I designed a pair of delicate rings, Ring Pull I and made in silver and Fairtrade 9 carat gold, which are playful but also create a contrast between throwaway consumer culture and how we adorn the body, while reclaiming jewellery as an art form.
