I’m Yahira Tiare, the brains (and hands) behind Dehoja and the Las Jevas del Jabón project. I’m a 28-year-old Puerto Rican self-taught soap maker, mother of an amazing six-year-old boy and wife to a supportive husband.

I discovered the soaping world while my husband was an army soldier and we were stationed in Germany. New country, new language and just the two of us at that time, I started navigating the internet to kill time and stumbled upon a Pinterest blog on handmade soap. Since I was about six years old, I’ve loved doing all kinds of crafts: painting, clay, jewellery, photography, cross stitch, baking, digital drawing, pyrography. A few weeks later, I found myself reading hundreds of blogs on soap and decided to give it a try, in the simplest way possible.
