We are a British–Spanish couple, who met while working as designers for an international retail brand. Working in the fashion industry allowed us to learn many things. We discovered a dark side that not everyone has the chance to see, with modern slavery and large-scale pollution behind the low prices and fast fashion business model. Realising this changed our view of the industry forever, so we decided not to be a part of it anymore.

We started to think about how we could make our own small contribution to generating a change in the way that people consume clothes. As we all know, the planet cannot sustain this rhythm of mass consumption any longer. So we decided to create Lichen Goods as an alternative to this. Our project produces handmade garments on a small scale using only natural fibres, with the finished pieces hand-dyed with plants.
