A traditional blacksmith, I specialise in hand-forged cutlery and cookware. I am the founder and head designer of Alex Pole Ironwork, but work with a small team. Joe is my assistant and production manager, Steve is my teaching assistant and tech guru, and Jaz handles operations and sales (generally keeping everything organised and running smoothly). 

The forge is an old farm building with a newer timber and corrugated iron extension, situated on the edge of a cider orchard near the Somerset/Dorset border in the UK. We also have two workshops of around 50 square metres each – one for production, the other for the blacksmithing school. I have been working from here for the past eight years, but arrived via London, Devon, Spain and Australia, in each of which I’ve forged.
