Musician and designer Matt Warner, who is co-owner of American Music Furniture, marries his two passions in life by creating humidified cabinets to protect and display top-end guitars.
What is it that you do and how do you do it?
We build humidified display cabinets for musical instruments. Basically, a cabinet is similar to a cigar humidor, to keep the instruments at a perfect 45% relative humidity. We do that by building a beautiful display case that’s not only structurally sound but also visually pleasing, to display our client’s collection of guitars or violins very nicely.
Are these top-end instruments that your customers would have?
Very much so. Our typical client will have half a million to a million dollars worth of guitars in one of our display cabinets. My whole philosophy with the design in what we do is to be able to bring music into the forefront of the home rather than out of sight, locked up in a case somewhere.
