Jayme Coggin is keeping his family’s heritage of machining and golf alive through his thriving boutique golf brand, which he plans to relocate to a workshop on his late grandfather’s golf course.

What is it that you do and how do you do it?
Coggin Machine and Design (CMD) is a boutique golf brand. I specialise in making custom putters, hand-ground irons and wedges, and golf accessories such as ball markers, divot tools, displays and trophies – really anything that’s CNC-machined or crafted out of metal.
It’s primarily just me working by myself, but my wife does help out with a few things here and there, and she makes the headcovers for the putters.
I’ve been in the machining industry for approximately half my life. I went to a trade high school and took precision manufacturing for the duration of my four years in high school, got into a shop during my senior year, and worked there every other week. I went into the trade full-time for a number of years, and then transitioned into teaching machining for quite a few years.
