Garvald Textiles is a weaving and textiles studio that works with adults with learning disabilities and autism. Craft and making are at the heart of what we do. We place a particular emphasis on what crafts can offer in terms of meaningful work, well-being and community building for the individual makers who come to our workshop.

We are part of Garvald Edinburgh, a charity that provides a creative space for adults with learning disabilities. We strive to help our members realise their potential through engaging in meaningful work within a thriving community. Inspired by Rudolf Steiner’s work in curative education and social therapy, craft is at the core of our philosophy. We have four buildings across Edinburgh and the Lothians, in Scotland, UK. The charity runs over 21 creative workshops, including in textiles, pottery, glass, jewellery, woodwork, baking, the arts and more.
