I’m an industrial designer and maker. I grew up in Denmark watching my dad building whatever was needed for our home and was often left to my own devices in our basement workshop. I spent the first 20 years of my life playing the violin, but I became more interested in how the violin was built. I often told my parents that I would be a violin maker when I grew up. While that didn’t happen, I did study product and furniture design and had the time of my life doing so.

Back home in Denmark, design education is very much hands-on. The design school was the best playground ever, with fully functioning wood, glass, metal and ceramic workshops. This was when I realised that I could make a living from something that I enjoyed doing. But first I would have to get some experience and save up to have one of those workshops of my own.
