Most of my days are spent carefully crafting images in my intricate papercut style for books, editorial pieces, stationery and any interesting visual projects that come my way. My illustrations champion bright colours and bold shapes, with an acute attention to detail, often on a miniature scale.

I’ve always loved the physicality of working with paper and scissors. Working intuitively to cut each delicate shape by hand, then bringing all the pieces together to make an image that seems to jump off the page complete with shadows and soft textures. My faithful scissors have sort of become an extension of my hand and feel more natural to me now than holding a pencil. I use them to cut out even the smallest of details before applying the tiniest amount of glue with a pin.

I currently work in a small studio in a beautiful building on Glasgow’s River Clyde called The Briggait, which dates from 1873 and was for a long time a fish market. My corner of the room is filled with the work of friends and favourite designers, and I share the space with two fine artists and a jeweller. For now, it’s the perfect escape, and I love the sense of community you have when you work alongside other creatives. But I will always pine for a small bothy where one day I can hide away in my hypothetical back garden.
