I am quite possibly the only woman in the world building ships in bottles on special request. I originally picked up fabricating ships in bottles when my husband and I were living and sailing on our 40-foot sailboat in the USA. As luck would have it, I saw someone demonstrating the craft at the North Carolina Maritime Museum in Beaufort, North Carolina, on our return trip from our winter cruise in the Bahamas. I was searching for a craft that could be tucked away in a box while we were sailing, needed few materials and tools and could be quickly pulled out to work on when anchored in a calm harbour. This was it!
