I am the designer, maker and doer behind all things Sun & Lace. Each pair of baby shoes is handcrafted by me in my studio in not-quite-rural Wisconsin, USA. For now, while my kids are still quite young, I work while they sleep or are engrossed in LEGO or science experiments.

My creative spirit definitely comes from my mom. Growing up, she wholeheartedly encouraged my creative passions, whether that was making a pair of cardboard shoes or sewing clothes for my dolls; she always thought my creations were the greatest.

My mom bought me my first sewing machine when I was about 10, which I used to sew beanbag chairs for my stuffed animals as a kid, and clothes for my family as an adult. My mom passed away in 2007, and I suppose that losing both her and my father that year changed my outlook. You get one life; if there’s something you want to do with it, make it happen, or it won’t happen. One thing I want to do with my life is to combine my creative and business skills (I worked in marketing for a decade in Chicago) to build and grow a shop that I am proud of.
